Boris’ swan song became one of its strongest pieces of music, and the band’s new album, DEAR, was destined to be a farewell letter to its loyal following. But the process of the recording reinvigorated the band and helped take its music to uncharted territory. Nothing new for this trio.
An album with a melancholic feel, full of shoegaze soundscapes that adapt perfectly to Boris’ live performances, the elements of drama and slow crescendos give a lot of ammunition to their almost theatrical performances.
Boris has never been afraid of experimentation. Change is the only constant rule in a long and prolific career of more than 20 studio albums, covering many music styles – from experimental, drone, speed and punk to dream pop.
The music universe needs characters from another planet like Takeshi, Atsuo and Wata. They are so unique and uncanny that, as a band, they become a fearless trio that continues evolving and hopefully will keep making music, challenging audiences for years to come.
