Prong
The master of the RIFF: Tommy Victor of PRONG at the Highline Ballroom in NYC, the current iteration of the band includes Art Cruz (Winds of Plague) on drums and Jason Christopher (Ministry, Stone Sour) on bass.
Victor's influence in the heavy music scene can’t be underestimated, a band that was ahead of its time and to this day continues making ear crushing music. Their album CLEANSING contains some of the best riffs ever recorded, and RUDE AWAKENING might be the blueprint of many post-metal albums; a mix of heavy riffs, loops and dissonant chords with a shoegaze feel. As Page Hamilton from Helmet stated at this show: While working as a sound-man at CBGBs, Tommy Victor helped his band get on the map, facilitating Helmet’s first series of gigs at the legendary venue in downtown NYC back in the late 80s. Interestingly enough both bands are touring together after so many years, two musicians that helped define a new generation of heavy music and have never been afraid of exploring new sounds.
